CompleteTax Home / Tax Guide 2009 / Filing Thresholds
|
If your 2007 gross income meets or exceeds the following levels and you are under age 65, you must file a tax return:
| Single |
$ 8,750 |
| Head of Household |
$11,250 |
| Married Filing Jointly |
$17,500 |
| Married Filing Separately |
$ 3,400 |
| Qualifying Widow or Widower |
$14,100 |
If you are 65 or older by the end of 2007, you can add $1,300 to the amounts shown above for single filers or a head of household. If one of the spouses filing jointly is 65 or older, add an extra $1,050. If both spouses are 65 or older on a joint return, you can add $2,100 to the amount shown, so the threshold would be $19,600.
