Why do I get a window asking me to save a file when I try to print my return?

This is probably caused by one of two conditions.

  • You do not have Adobe® Reader® installed. Go to the Adobe Download site to get your free Reader.

  • Or,

  • The security or file type settings of your browser have been set to always ask the user (you) to download files of the type *.pdf or *.asp. You have two choices in this case:

    1. Choose the option "Open this file from its current location." This will allow you to view or print your return normally.
    2. If you choose to "Save this file to disk," you must change the name of the return from "printfile.asp" to "printfile.pdf." This will allow your Reader to view the file when you open it later.
