My screen resolution is 800 X 600. Why do I get a message telling me that it isn't?
Do you have a Microsoft office bar - or a SoundBlaster bar - or any one of a number of on-line storage, or cursor, or e-mail management bars that stack on top of your Windows task bar? ANY program status or tool bar that displays on your screen detracts from the possible 800 by 600 lines of resolution. If any of these are present, or if you have the Windows task bar moved vertically to either side of your monitor, then you do not have 800 by 600 lines visible. Shut down all non-system bars (in most cases they will come back when you reboot), and make certain your Windows task bar is reduced to its smallest visible size, and at the bottom of your monitor. If the solution above does not work, and if you can not use the higher 1024 by 768 resolution with at least 256 colors, then respond back to us with the following data:
