My return does not print correctly using Windows 2000. What is the problem?

This may happen with some printers, such as the HP 4Si or HP 8100, that are using a Printer Control Language (PCL) driver. You can solve this problem by changing the printer driver to a PostScript driver:

In the Windows control panel, select the Printers icon.

  1. Double click on the Add Printer icon.

  2. Click Next until you are asked to select Local or Network printer. Remove the check from the box labeled Automatically detect and install my plug and play printer. Then select local or network as appropriate for your printer, and click Next.

  3. Select your correct port and click Next.

  4. Select the driver Si/4SiMX PS from the HP manufacturer list and click Next.

  5. On the next 3 screens, select Yes to "Use this printer as default", select "Do not share this printer", and answer No to "print a test page." Then click Finish.

After printing your return, you can change the default printer back to its original setting.

  1. Select the Printers icon again.

  2. Right-click on the original printer and choose "Set as Default."

If you still have difficulty printing, you can contact Adobe Technical Services for additional printing solutions.
